Who we are
VA Hoops Fund was co-founded by siblings Viraj and Arya, from Chantilly, VA. They're two young basketball players with a serious passion for the game. Having played with multiple AAU and Travel teams from Reston to Fairfax to Vienna to Springfield, they've seen firsthand how much love and dedication kids put into basketball, during and outside of practices. But they also noticed something else: not every deserving player gets the chance to shine due to financial hurdles outside their control.
Inspired by their own experiences and a deep desire to help, Viraj and Arya decided to take action through VA Hoops Fund, a non-profit with a clear mission: to provide scholarships to underserved student-athletes.
Viraj
Viraj is a rising 7th grader at Rocky Run Middle School and co-founder of VA Hoops Fund. He's played basketball for many years, playing with numerous AAU teams, including S5 Elite, and Reston D1. His interactions with players from different cities have given him a unique perspective on the financial challenges that kids face and drove him to establish a non-profit.
Arya
Arya is a rising 3rd grader at Poplar Tree ES and co-founder of VA Hoops Fund. She honed her dribbling skills while watching her older brother's games, and has played up 1-2 grades the last 2 years. She recently played up with the 3rd grade Vogues National Team. Arya has a passion for community service and helping others.
